LOVE is in the air in Dudley as the town has been ‘painted’ pink just in time for Valentine’s Day.

The town’s brand new lighting system, which was installed as part of the multi-million pound market place development is illuminating the town’s buildings pink and the central entertainment area is also a glow with hearts and flowers each evening.

Councillor Khurshid Ahmed, cabinet member for planning and regeneration, said: “The new lighting system in the town was introduced to help feature the success of the town’s regeneration projects.

“It is being used this week to create a fun and vibrant atmosphere for visitors and shoppers in the town to enjoy.”

The system will be used to light up the buildings to commemorate other events throughout the year such as St. George’s Day and Breast Cancer Awareness Week.

The £6.7 million regeneration of Dudley town centre includes a newly designed market, new paving, the restoration of many historic features and buildings as well as the feature lighting.

This work has been funded by the European Regional Development Fund, Dudley Council and the Heritage Lottery Fund.
