A DUDLEY mechanic has handed over the keys to his pride and joy to the Black Country Living Museum.

Jim Pease, who works on the classic cars at the popular Tipton Road tourist attraction, has gifted his dark green Sunbeam Dawn.

The car has been a regular feature at the museum for some time, having been on display at Bradburn and Wedge - but Jim has now decided to make things official.

The 63-year-old bought the car in 2002 for £3,500 and admits he could have got at least £15,000 for the Wolverhampton-made car if he sold it as it is so rare.

But Jim said: "I'm not interested in the money, I think this is the right decision."

Andrew Lovett, the museum's chief executive, said: "This is a generous and wonderful donation. The car is in running order and a great condition, but it's only that way due to Jim's love of it and the skills he has.

"He's given it to the museum so as many people as possible can see it and enjoy it."
