MORE than half of the people who visited a Know Your Risk roadshow in Dudley were found to be at risk of developing type 2 diabetes.
Out of the 200 who popped along to a recent roadshow in Market Place, 125 were referred to their GP for further tests.
Peter Shorrick, from Diabetes UK Midlands, said: “In Dudley there are around 16,000 people living with type 2 diabetes. Left untreated or poorly managed diabetes can cause devastating complications such as amputation, blindness, kidney failure and stroke.
“However, three out of five cases can be prevented or delayed through adopting a healthy lifestyle and taking steps to reduce risk of developing the condition."
