A BLACK Country driving instructor has been jailed for four years for carrying out a string of sickening sex assaults on teenage boys during lessons.
Gary Rolinson, who ran the 500+ Driving School in Kingswinford, had originally denied 13 charges of sexual assault and one of causing a person to engage in sexual activity but he was found guilty after a trial at Wolverhampton Crown Court.
After a series of delays in sentencing – his case was finally concluded today (Friday May 13) at Warwickshire Justice Centre where the 60-year-old was given a four-year jail term and ordered to register as a sex offender for life.
Rolinson, formerly of Andover Crescent, Kingswinford, preyed on young men by sexually assaulting them during lessons between 2012 and 2014 – the jury heard during his trial.
He was first arrested in 2012 after a teenager made a complaint about being touched inappropriately.
No action was taken at that time – but in 2014 there was a further complaint by another young man, so police wrote to more than 700 men and women who had been taught by Rolinson over the three-year-period.
As a result other youths, aged 17 and 18 at the time of their lessons, and who did not know each-other, came forward to make complaints.
Rolinson had maintained there had been no sexual contact with any of the victims and he said he was totally innocent on all charges.
At a previous hearing last month, which saw sentencing delayed, he indicated he intended to appeal against his conviction.
