A DUDLEY woman is raising cash for the Royal National Institute of Blind People to thank them for helping her mum.
Caroline Kulemeka recently took part in her first London Marathon to "give something back" and pull in the pounds for the charity.
The 35-year-old said: "My mum was blind and the help they gave to ensure she was independent in managing her daily life with the changes that were happening to her was absolutely wonderful."
She said the charity also helped the family adapt and although her mum was later able to have corrective surgery, she has never forgotten the support.
Caroline's marathon effort on April 24, saw her reach the finish line in four hours, 35 minutes but to date, she is still a way off her £1,800 target.
Determined to boost her total, she has been hitting the streets of Dudley with a collection bucket and has raised £187.49 so far, bringing her total to around £500.
"People have been so generous," said Caroline, who works as a customer service adviser for a telecommunications company.
"I've had a lot of support and I've been able to promote the charity and tell people what it is all about."
