DUDLEY’S beauty spots have been captured by drone for a short film due to premiere tonight (Wednesday).
Dean Russell was determined to show the town in a positive light after Piers Morgan slated Dudley’s “dreary skyline” following the DY Eye being dubbed “the worst tourist attraction in Britain” in the national press.
The owner of Stourbridge based aerial photography and film company DEK Images said: “Piers Morgan really ripped into the town and I thought it was unfair. I thought what better way to showcase Dudley than by drone?”
Dean, who moved from Kent to Dudley 12 years ago, filmed a number of locations from above for the three-and-a-half minute film, including Dudley Castle, Saltwells Nature Reserve and The Waterfront, while ensuring he got shots of the big wheel that started it all.
The 32-year-old continued: “It took a few days to put it all together and edit it but I’m really happy with it. I just wanted to open people’s eyes to the beauty of Dudley.”
Dudley By Drone will be released on the DEK Images Facebook page at 7pm.
