SEDGLEY schoolchildren raised buckets of cash for their end of year trip by rolling up their sleeves, grabbing soapy sponges and washing mucky motors.

Cars left the Queen Victoria School playground gleaming thanks to the cleaning efforts of pupils, teachers and parents.

The car wash raised £250, which will be spent organising a day of fun for year six at the end of term.

Sedgley ward Councillor and West Midlands MEP Bill Etheridge drove by to get his car cleaned last Saturday and support the worthy cause.

He said: “I was really pleased to have been invited to the car wash, I was very impressed by the hard work put in by all at the event.”

Karen Jones, chairman of the Sedgley Parents Group, wished to thank everyone who supported the event, including Halford's in Bilston for donating cleaning equipment.

She added: "Everyone had a lot of fun on the day and I am pleased that such a large sum was raised."

The next fundraiser will be a summer fayre which will be held at the Bilston Street school on July 2.

Donation can also be made by calling 01902 664670 or visiting Cllr Etheridge's office in High Holborn, Sedgley.
