TRAVELLERS have set up camp in three Dudley borough parks.

In the last few days caravans have appeared at Priory Park and Woodside Park in Dudley and Hurst Green Park in Halesowen.

A group also arrived at the Bumble Hole Nature Reserve in Netherton yesterday (Tuesday).

Councillor Gaye Partridge, cabinet member for housing, said: “We are aware of a number of incidents where travellers have gained access to council run public land.

“Officers are currently dealing with each of the four incidents in Dudley using the powers the council has to get things back to normal as quickly as possible.

“People are right to be concerned when others illegally gain access to spaces like parks and the costs that this brings, but we would like to assure everyone that we are doing everything we can to deal with these matters swiftly and appropriately.”
