DUDLEY Civic Society is holding a meeting for people who want to see Dudley Museum and Art Gallery remain in the town centre.

The group will meet at tomorrow (Thursday) to discuss how the council’s cost-cutting plans to close the museum in St James’s Road and relocate the it’s exhibits to the borough’s archive centre on Tipton Road could be stopped.

Steve Briscoe, group spokesman, said: “We want people to come out and support this as the museum means a lot to Dudley folk and the Dudley Civic Society wants the museum to stay in the town centre.”

He said the group believed the relocation would “hit town centre trade hard”, adding: “We should be enhancing Dudley rather than dismantling it.”

Anyone who wants to have their say is invited to the meeting at the Station Hotel, Castle Hill, at 7.30pm.
