ALDI bosses will discuss opportunities up for grabs at its new Dudley store at a jobs fair this weekend.

Dudley North MP Ian Austin has organised the event to give jobseekers the chance to secure employment at the Priory Road supermarket.

Last year, Mr Austin consulted with residents over Aldi’s plans, finding that eight in 10 were in support, with 87 per cent saying it would help tackle unemployment in the area.

The store, which is being built on the site of the former The King Arthur pub, will employ 35 new members of staff and six deputy managers when it opens later this year.

The Labour MP said: “One of the reasons local people supported Aldi’s plan for a new supermarket was because it would create over forty new jobs in an area of high unemployment.

“I want local people to get those jobs so I have organised this jobs fayre and written to everyone living locally encouraging them to apply.”

The jobs fair will take place at 11am next Saturday (June 25) at Priory Primary School in Limes Road.
