A FAMILY had to flee their Woodsetton home late last night as a fire ripped through the front room.

A man, woman and four children escaped uninjured following the blaze in Hilary Crescent.

Crews from Dudley and Tipton arrived at the scene at 10.53pm after receiving a 999 call.

A West Midlands Fire Service spokesman said: “The fire was confined to the room of origin but there was 90 per cent smoke damage to the rest of the property.

“A man received oxygen therapy from paradmedics and two children received a precautionary check up.

“We isolated the gas and electric mains and revisited the property this morning to make sure there were no hot spots.”
