THE man whose body was found at a house in Netherton has been named locally as Simon Johnson.

Police are treating the death as suspicious after being called to the Cradley Road property at around 9.40am today (Thursday) after being alerted by the ambulance service.

Mr Johnson, aged 41, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Parts of Cradley Road and Bodmin Road have been closed while a forensic examination takes place.

A neighbour told the News that Mr Johnson had lived at the property for around four years and worked for Cradley Heath based Black Country Glazing.

"He was a nice guy, he always seemed cheerful," he added.

"I saw him yesterday morning and I'm sure I saw him in the evening. I can't believe it."

Gemma Howell, office manager at the Station Street double glazing firm, said: "Black Country Glazing would like to pay tribute to one of our employees who has sadly passed away.

"Everyone here is devastated that we have lost one of our own who was not just an employee but a friend as well.

"All our staff and friends are paying tribute to our greatly missed friend and all our thoughts are with the family during this devastating time.”

Detective Inspector Warren Hines, from the West Midlands Police’s homicide team, said: "I am keen to hear from anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area either yesterday or this morning."
