CHARITY quizzers have helped a Brierley Hill law firm smash its previous record annual fundraising total.

The Higgs and Sons charity quiz returned to Molineux recently when 60 teams from across the Midlands raised £5,433 for the Stroke Association, the Waterfront-based law firm’s charity of the year.

Thanks to the quiz, a current record-breaking total of £17,000 has been reached by the company, with some events still to take place.

Higgs and Sons’ managing partner Paul Hunt said: “It was fantastic to see so many new faces taking part at our annual quiz, alongside those people who have supported us right from the beginning.

“Thanks to the generous support of everyone who attended we raised almost £5,500 for the Stroke Association, and that took us past last year’s fundraising total.”

Events held throughout the year have included runs, dress down days, bake offs, a fun day and the annual six-a-side football tournament.

Louise Lawless, community and events fundraising manager for the Stroke Association, said: “Thank you to everyone who attended the quiz and helped us raise so much money for the Stroke Association – we hope everyone had a brilliant time.

“Higgs and Sons have gone above and beyond for us this year and we can’t thank them enough for nominating us as their charity of the year.”

Last year, the company managed to raise a total of £15,000 in aid of the Alzheimer’s Association.
