MIGRANT communities will be welcomed to the borough at an event in Dudley this weekend.

The Centre for Equality and Diversity (CfED) is hosting the event at the Wellington Road Community Centre on Saturday from 2-4pm.

The event is being held in partnership with Interfaith Network and aims to showcase the ways new communities contribute to society.

Mushtaq Hussain, chairman of CfED, encouraged people to attend the free event and added: "I am looking forward to welcoming many people to the event as we work together to show our appreciation and support to migrants communities new to our borough.

"Dudley is a wonderfully diverse town and we want to affirm this oneness amongst all our people."

Throughout the afternoon, Seikou Susso, from Gambia, will provide entertainment by playing the Kora - sometimes known as the African harp - and Black Country poet Kerry Ball will be reading one of her recently penned poems.

People can also play diversity bingo and food will be provided by East meets West caterers.

Funding for the event has been provided by the office of the West Midlands Police and Crime Commissioner, Heart of England Community Foundation, Near Neighbours and Dudley Trades Council.
