NETHERTON Health Centre will receive a £62,000 funding boost to improve access.

Dudley Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) will provide the cash to create a new footpath from the car park after patients complained about "poor access" during a meeting about plans to relocate Links Medical Practice into the centre on Halesowen Road.

The existing main car park, which is at the rear of the building, is on a considerably lower level than the entrance at the front of the building and the public footpath currently used to reach the entrance is seen as an obstacle for patients due its steepness.

There is also no safe pedestrian access to the pavement from the car park.

The CCG Primary Care Commissioning Committee approved plans for the path, along with plans for more spaces at the front of the building - subject to conversations with Dudley Council.

The investment will be used to achieve as much of this work as possible, but the path will be top of the list.

Work on the footpath is expected to start in the next few months, access to the building will not be affected during this time.
