HIPPODROME campaigners need to raise £4,500 to pay for a solicitor to help with their ambitious plans to bring the venue back to life.

The Black Country Hippodrome group want to turn the former theatre and bingo hall in Castle Hill into a multi-entertainment complex.

But to progress plans, the group need specilaist legal assistance to put a report together, which they hope will help to secure further funding.

To get the ball rolling, supporter Gwen Timmins has planned a number of fundraising events.

The first is a variety show at Quarry Bank Labour Club on Friday (April 7), starring singer Darren D Davison, country duo The McKays and Marlene - A Black Country Wench.

Tickets for the 8pm show cost £3 on the door.

A quiz will also be held at The Laurels in Windmill Hill, Colley Gate on May 11.

Teams are limited to five people and tickets, priced £7, include a fish and chip supper.

To book for the 7.30pm event, call 07971745595.

Other ways people can help the group, include the ‘sponsor-a-seat’ scheme, where names can be placed on the back of a seat for £100 (individuals) or £250 (corporate sponsors).

People can also join the membership scheme for a minimum donation of £10 per month.

Members will receive a membership card and free entry to any events organised by the group in the lead up to the opening of the theatre.

Anyone interested in either schemes should contact alex@thebch.co.uk.
