STUDENTS at Hillcrest School and Community College transported a sell-out audience back to the 1960s when they performed Hairspray.
Proud friends, family, and fellow students, watched as dance-loving teen Tracy Turnblad (played by Olivia Mullender and Holly Dagger) auditioned for a spot on The Corny Collins Show (with the host being played by James Garrington) and won, becoming an overnight celebrity.
David Lewis, who directed the show at the Netherton school, said there were a “number of standout performances”, adding that the “most noticeable” was the “sheer enjoyment from all the students involved”.
He added: “With over 60 students involved on stage, in the band, and supporting behind the scenes, as well as a great staff presence, it is great to see so many people involved in such a positive experience at our school.”
