A NEW project will capture the memories of people who lived and worked on Black Country canals.

Volunteers at Dudley Canal and Tunnel Trust are keen to hear and preserve people's stories as part of the ongoing project, Canal Memories.

“We would like to encourage people to share their memories of the canals with our friendly volunteers to contribute to a living history of the canal network in the Black Country," said Holly Wain, the trust's heritage activities assistant.

“Perhaps you worked on the canals, or you called the canals your home. Maybe you have family history linked to canals, or the industry here in the area. We would love to hear from you.”

People can also donate objects and photographs to be exhibited alongside written memories at the Birmingham Road attraction's visitor's centre.

Alternatively, people can have their memories recorded, to be shared on the trust's website and social media.
