PEOPLE inspired by Wimbledon can make a racket a Priory Park with free tennis taster sessions.

Tennis For Free has served up an ace for Dudley by investing in the year-long programme, which starts on Sunday (July 23) from 10am to 12noon.

The charity has teamed up with Dudley Council, Sandwell Leisure Trust and the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) to provide the sessions, which are suitable for people of all ages and abilities.

Tennis For Free CEO, Paul Jessop said: “All of our sessions are very well suited to the whole family coming down and all playing tennis at the same time. There are no catches, all equipment is provided.”

Van Willerton, the LTA’s regional tennis participation manager, said: “We are very excited about the free activities being created for people to play tennis in Dudley. The park has really accessible facilities in the heart of the community.

“Having easy access to local good park facilities where you can play informally with your family and friends is really important in encouraging people to play.

"And with Tennis for Free offering sessions every weekend, people will be able to meet and make new friends, get fit and have some fun.”

Councillor Karen Shakespeare, Dudley Council’s cabinet member responsible for parks and green spaces, added: “The Tennis for Free programme is a great way for families to try out the sport.

"It’s free, fun and gets people out into the fresh air in one of our welcoming borough parks. I hope that lots of families sign up this summer.”
