THE family fun day that marked the relaunch of Dudley Market was such a success that plans are already afoot to make it an annual event.

Tudor Markets, which took over the running of the town centre market in July, pulled out all of the stops for the Big Day Out on Saturday (September 2).

Shoppers who browsed the bustling stalls, selling a variety of produce including cakes, curry, fruit and veg, toys, soap, clothing and vintage brooches, were also entertained by The X Factor star Wagner.

The Black Country singer, who appeared on the show in 2010 as part of Louis Walsh's team, performed a lively rendition of Ricky Martin's Livin' La Vida Loca.

He told the News: "I loved performing in Dudley, my hometown. The people of Dudley supported me whilst I was on The X Factor and so I am very grateful for that.

"I travel all over the UK doing appearances all year round so it's nice to do a local appearance too.

"I love Dudley and it's people and to perform for them was an absolute pleasure!"

Families were also treated to music from Black Country Radio and a performance by street dancers Collectivcr8 , while thrill-seekers enjoyed rides provided by the Harry Jones Fun Fair.

James Willis, director of Tudor Markets, said: "The relaunch went very well, we had a great turnout of traders and had some great weather. "I have been told by the locals and market traders that they have not seen the market and town centre this busy and vibrant for many years.

"We have managed to secure a few new traders who now want to trade on Dudley market."

Mr Willis continued: "Overall we believe the event was a success and look forward to The Big Day Out next year, plus many more events throughout the year.

"We will now be focused on filling up the market and planning for our Christmas event."
