A MAN whose death above a Dudley wine shop prompted a murder investigation was stabbed nine times, an inquest has heard.

Jaskaran Kang, from Handsworth, was killed by a knife wound to the leg a post mortem confirmed.

The inquest, held at Black Country Coroner's Court, on February 1, was told police were called to an address on Stourbridge Road at around 2.30am on January 6.

Ambulance crews were already there attending to the 24-year old.

A murder investigation is currently underway.

Reggie Salmon, aged 20 of Stourbridge Road; Dontay Ellis, 18, of Central Drive and a 17-year-old from Newcastle-under-Lyme, who cannot be named for legal reasons, have been charged with murder.

Three other people have been arrested for assisting offenders and are currently on police bail.

On the day of the inquest a fourth person was arrested on suspicion of murder.

Black Country Coroner Zafar Siddique formally suspended the inquest pending the outcome of the criminal investigation and trial.

The date of the inquest is to be confirmed and the trial is expected to take place on July 16.
