A MAN allegedly made "inappropriate comments" to a 13-year-old girl and her friends in Sedgley.

Police are investigating a report of a driver approaching the group of teenagers in Westfield Road at around 6.30pm on Saturday (June 2).

It is believed a black car pulled up by the girls and a man made inappropriate comments.

The teens told him they weren't interested and walked away, before telling their parents and reporting it to the police.

A West Midlands Police spokesman said: "Investigations are currently on-going to identify the offender. We have spoken to one of the girls to get a thorough account and arrangements will be made to speak to the other teenagers involved."

Anyone with any information about the incident should call police on 101, quoting crime reference number 20DY/124365V/18.

The force has also encouraged parents to reinforce the following messages to their children.

• Never go off on your own with a stranger, take things from them or get in a car with them.

• Make sure you tell your parents where you are.

• If someone scares you, or makes you feel uncomfortable go somewhere safe, which could be your home, your school or a police station.

• Remember to tell someone what has happened straight away.

• Always dial 999 in an emergency.
