KIND-hearted youngsters at a Sedgley school have been busy helping children less fortunate than themselves by sending them Christmas gifts.
St Chad’s RC Primary School have sent off 91 shoeboxes crammed full of goodies to Crimea in Russia as part of the Samaritan’s Purse Shoebox scheme.
The Catholic Lane youngsters attended a special assembly where they were shown a film about the children who receive the shoeboxes. They were also shown the kinds of items they could pack into their boxes, before they went away and made up their own.
All the shoeboxes were then collected on Monday to be distributed to needy children.
School spokesman, Jane Harris, said:”The children were very sad when they first watched the film and they all wanted to help and make a box.
“We have been doing this for over five years and they all still enjoy doing it.
“We have sent off shoeboxes full of toys, sweets, soaps, toothpaste and pencils and papers - because the children cannot go to school if they haven’t got their own materials.”
