UPPER Gornal will be a hive of activity on Saturday when a special fun day takes place.

The event at the recreation ground in Vale Street will be held from noon-4pm.

To celebrate United States Independance Day, which falls on the same day, the theme of the event will be all things American.

Entertainment on offer will include a Punch and Judy show, nail art and face painting, as well as the usual stalls and activities.

There will also be a display of 50 vintage vehicles.

And visitors will also have the chance to explore the newly re-decorated windmill in Vale Street, which will be open to the public throughout the day.
