A NETHERTON park was a hive of activity on Saturday as residents turned out for the annual community fun day.
The Friends of Netherton Park held the event at the Northfield Road park to raise funds to continue improving the green space.
Despite rain in the morning, the sun shone during the afternoon, allowing hundreds of visitors to enjoy the event.
Activities on offer included donkey rides, a land train, fun fair, classic car displays, face painting, puppet shows, live acts and plenty of tabletop stalls.
Chairman of the friends group, Ivor Lucs, said the day was another huge success.
Mr Lucas, who formed the group 25 years ago and held the first meeting in his living room, was also presented with a lifetime achievement award by Dudley’s Mayor during the event.
He said: “I was really chuffed to be presented with the award and the day went very well.
“We had a few tears from some children as the donkeys and land train were held up on the motorway but as soon as they arrived, the day got better and it turned out to be a really lovely day.”
Money raised will go back to the friends group as they continue improving the park for residents. Bulb planting is next on the agenda.
