BLACK Country heroes are set for high-speed support from a new business backed by a group of Stourbridge businessmen.

Wheelspin Karting, a state-of-the-art mecca for petrol heads, will doing its bit to back members of the emergency services and military personnel during a Laps For Lifesavers event on Sunday July 25.

During the day people will be able to take their turn on the hi-tech 310 metre track for a ten per cent discount, Wheelspin will also donate ten per cent of booking fees to good causes.

Matt Ralph, Wheelspin co-owner, said: “We will be splitting the money raised on the day between Help for Heroes and West Midlands Air Ambulance to give something back for people who dedicate their lives to helping others.

“Our armed services put themselves in harm’s way for their country while emergency crews save lives every day and we think it is important to show our support for the real heroes in our community.”

Wheelspin on Dudley Road, Halesowen, opened on June 21 and offers people the chance to race around one of the fastest indoor karting tracks in the region.

The business has been set up by Stourbridge entrepreneurs Matt, Jason Sykes and Graham Danks who have invested in a fleet of new karts.

The karts are fitted with electronic timing systems linked to a computer which records individual lap times to sort the Hamiltons from the hamsters.

The track features tunnels, a flyover and tight chicanes to test drivers of every ability, racing is controlled by trained marshals and safety lights to ensure the only things being broken are lap records.

The centre has an overhead viewing area and offers a range of refreshments, visitors can also watch the racing and keep up with lap times on a video screen in Wheelspin’s fully licensed bar.

Wheelspin offers karting for anyone aged over eight-years-old and 1.32 metres tall, for more information on Laps For Lifesavers call Wheelspin on 0121 550 6556 or visit www.wheelspinkarting.com
