Delivery driver threatend and robbed in Russells Hall
10:05am Monday 30th April 2012 in Local
A POSTAL delivery driver was threatened with an axe and robbed off his cash box during a robbery in Russells Hall estate.
The incident happened outside the Post Office in Russells Hall Road just before 9.30am on Thursday, April 26.
The van driver was approached by a male, who threatened him with the axe before snatching the box and making off on the back of a white scrambler type motorbike, which was driven by an accomplice.
The pair were seen heading towards Sandfield Drive and onto Himley Road. They were also seen over Milking Bank Park and through the Milking Bank estate.
Detective sergeant Mick Greenland, said: "The bike and its riders would have been quite distinctive in the area and we are sure that there are many witnesses who would be able to help us piece together their movements and trace these offenders.
"The box contained a substantial amount of cash so we would also like to hear about anyone who may have come into money recently."
The offenders are described as small framed, white males and around 18 years old.
One was wearing a white motor cycle helmet with a scarf around his face. He also wore a black tracksuit top and grey bottoms with an orange strip down the leg.
His accomplice wore a black woolly hat, a black fleece and purple tracksuit bottoms.
Witnesses should call DS Greenland or his team on 101. Alternatively, call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
