Businessman notches up five marathon runs

A BLACK Country businessman was recovering this week after completing the first-ever Milton Keynes - just weeks after running his way through three ultra marathons over three days.

Superfit Lee Porter, business development manager for Cash Converters in Stourbridge, Dudley and Blackheath, took part in the world famous Jurassic Coast Challenge - running 78.6 miles over the three days.

Then just a few weeks later he ploughed his way through another 26-mile course in Milton Keynes, which hosted its first-ever marathon yesterday (Sunday April 29).

Lee, aged 48, said: “In Milton Keynes I spent four hours running in the rain but it was a good run and I achieved a personal best time of below four hours.”

He said the earlier Jurassic Coast Challenge, which took in Studland Bay, Portland, Weymouth and Swanage and the Golden Cap, was “very testing”.

But he added: “The stunning views of the Dorset coastline helped me forget about the gruelling hills.

“The challenge was such a fantastic experience and I am so pleased I managed to complete the route and achieve one of my personal goals.”

Lee got his first taste of marathon running when he took part in the Nottingham Marathon last September, raising £450 for Dreams Come True.

Now, just a day after completing his fifth marathon in less than 12 months, he’s already looking for the next 26-mile course to tackle.
