Ladies choir to boost funds of Lower Gornal children's disability group
5:00pm Saturday 5th May 2012 in Local
THE funds of a Lower Gornal-based disabled children’s fun group is set to be boosted by the efforts of a ladies choir.
The Ellenvale Singers will be holding their annual concert at Brierley Hil Civic Hall on Wednesday, May 16 at 7.30pm.
Each year the ladies donate the proceeds from their concerts to different charities and to date have handed out £90,000 to deserving causes throughout the borough.
This year the concert is raising money for volunteer-run group, Smile, which meets every fortnight at Himley Road Methodist Church and allows disabled children to interact and play together.
Funds will also be raised for Pens Meadow School in Wordsley.
As part of the event, the choir will be welcoming guest singer Maggie O’Hara, who will be performing a selection of rousing songs to mark the Queen’s Jubilee and the Olympics, with audience members urged to bring flags and hats to help along the celebrations.
Tickets cost £7.50 for adults and can be purchased in advance by calling treasurer Joan Stych on 01902 674831 or from the box office on the night.
