Fortnight to celebrate books

FANTASY writers, popular children’s authors and poets will all be stopping off at borough libraries to mark Big Book Fortnight.

This year’s two-week annual event, which celebrates reading, begins on Saturday and runs until June 2.

Launching the fortnight will be children’s author of the Spy Dog and Spy Books series, Andrew Cope,who is visiting at Stourbridge Library on Saturday from 2.30pm to 4pm with his dog Star.

Popular fantasy novelist, Jasper Fforde will be at Dudley Library on Wednesday May 23 at 7.15pm and will be talking about his books including ‘The Eyre Affair and ‘One of our Thursdays is Missing’.

During the second week, poets Emma Purshouse, Jane Seabourne and Win Saha will be performing their lively work at Kingswinford Library on Tuesday May 29 from 7.30pm.

While Halesowen Library will hold the final event, with a visit from author Mil Millington, who will be entertaining visitors with his books on Wednesday May 30 from 7.30pm.

A small entrance fee applies to all of the events excluding the Andrew Cope events.

Tickets cost £3 and £1.50 for concessions and include refreshments.
