WOMEN can shop ‘til they drop at a Netherton charity night next week to help raise funds for a new borough girl’s refuge.
Champions Church is holding the event on Friday, June 22, which will see clothing, shoes and accessory boutiques showcasing their wares on a catwalk.
The ‘New Shoes’ event at the Cinder Bank church at 6.30pm, will also include pamper sessions and beauty treatments from make-up and nail artists, plus live entertainment and food.
The fashion night, which is being held for the second year running, is in aid of ‘Champion House’ a new residential project currently being set up by the church to provide short term refuge for women suffering from life controlling issues, such as eating disorders, self harm, abuse and depression.
Event organiser, Judith Guidotti, said: “We have wanted to set up a fully supported house like this for years, but we have never found the right property. But then we were approached by a Christian couple, who are not connected to Champions in anyway, to say they had a property which we could have.
“Everything just seemed to click into place and the money raised from the event will help furnish it.
“We are working alongside borough agencies and charities to help identify the women. The house will take five at a time for up to six months and we work with them and get them onto a programme to help them deal with their addiction and them help them start a new life.”
Tickets for the fashion night, which are available by calling 01384 457923, cost £10 or £20 for a VIP ticket. Both tickets include food and drink, with the VIP ticket getting additional access to a VIP lounge and seating area.
