Beauty spot is given five-star treatment

A PENSNETT beauty spot has been given a clean-up by community members in a bid to crack down on anti-social behaviour.

Over recent years there has been an increase of road motorbikes, stray horses and flytipping issues at Fens Pool Nature Reserve.

In a bid to curtail the problem, residents aired their concerns to their neighbourhood policing team during a recent PACT meeting, which resulted in the police joining forces with residents, the Prince's Trust programme and Dudley Council staff, to tackle the mess during a seven-day blitz of the area.

Brockmoor and Pensnett neighbourhood Sergeant Cliff Tomkinson, said: ”The aim is to do a massive clean-up of the area and attempt to get the nature reserve back to its picturesque best.

“Flytipping has become an increasing problem at Fens Pool and the areaswhere people are fly tipping are very close to confined areas where protected species are inhabited, such as great crested newts.

“The support that we have received from the community is tremendous and it really does show community spirit.”
