Dudley Mayor to hold annual civic service next Sunday

RESIDENTS are being invited to celebrate with the Mayor of Dudley at the traditional fundraising civic Sunday service next week.

The annual service will this year take place at Christ Church in Church Road, Coseley, on Sunday, July 8 at 10am.

The Mayor’s chaplain, Reverend Heather Humphrey, will lead the service and mayors from across the Black Country will also be attending.

A fundraising collection for the Mayor’s charities - are Diabetes UK – Stourbridge, Dudley and District Support Group and Dudley Stroke Association – will also take place during the service.

Councillor Melvyn Mottram, Mayor of Dudley, said:“The traditional civic Sunday service is always a lovely occasion and I hope to see as many people there on the day as possible. It is also a good opportunity to raise some money for charity.”

How delightful that despite all the cuts our "cash strapped" council can afford a civic shindig for all the local (non-elected) mayors. Here's a suggestion scrap this junket, and the thousands saved in expenses, instead of lining councillors pockets can be donated direct to charity.
