A 50-YEAR-OLD Pensnett man has appeared in court charged with stealing a metal safety gate from a popular children’s BMX track.

Mark Anthony Davies, of Birbeck Place, was handed a 12-month community order and ordered to pay £85 costs, for undertaking or assisting in the retention, removal or disposal of the £3,500 steel gate belonging to Saltwells Youth Club.

The gate at the entrance of the Dudley Wood BMX facility stopped motorbikes and cars accessing the Black Horse pub site.

What sort of deterrent is that £85 fine, and that goes to the court.
He should be made to pay for replacing the gates.
