SNUGGLING up to her new owner, Sky the Collie cross, has finally found her forever home in Netherton .

The five-year-old long-haired black and tan dog, who had spent months in the care of Dudley Animal Rescue, was being overlooked by potential owners because of her initial apprehension towards men.

Charity volunteers feared Sky, who was picked up as a stray, may have had bad experiences with males in the past, but all that was forgotten when she first met Paul.

Following an appeal in the News, Sky was spotted by Tina and Paul Cochrane, and now she is settled at their Withymoor Road home with sons Toby and Harley – and will not leave Paul’s side for a second.

Paul, aged 58, said: “I lost my last dog a couple of years ago and really missed having one. So when my wife saw her in the paper she persuaded me to enquire and go and meet her and I’m so glad she did, as she is a golden dog and so intelligent.

“She doesn’t leave my side. If I get up to go anywhere, she gets up as well.

“She was a bit edgy at first, as I would expect as she has to know if she can trust us, but that didn’t last long.

“I suffer from bad health, so I can’t work and Sky has really picked me up. We enjoy going for long walks together along the canal every day. She is the best thing that has happened to me in a long time.”

Marion Fisher, of Dudley Animal Rescue, said: “Tina and Paul were able to provide the ideal home for her and it is great to see howshe is very much Paul’s dog. He has turned her around within days.”
