Road race set to boost Action Heart coffers

RUNNERS are once again invited to pound the picturesque streets of Kinver to help raise cash for the borough’s Action Heart charity.

Kinver Rotary Club is organising the sixth annual Kinver Rotary 10K event in aid of Dudley’s Action Heart.

This year’s event, which is expected to pull in thousands of pounds for the charity, will take place on Sunday September 30.

Starting out at 10am from Brindley Heath Junior School at Potters Cross, the event is suitable for runners of all abilities and will take participants through the scenic South Staffordshire countryside.

There will also be a 2K family fun run around the field at Brindley Heath Junior School running alongside the main event.

Joy Brown, from Action Heart said: “Last year's event was another success story - with almost 300 runners completing the course as well as a further 100 entries in the 2K family fun run, resulting in a donation of nearly £5,000 to Action Heart.”

The 10K event, sponsored by Bodykraft, has a limit of 400 places available so runners are advised to get their entries in early. The deadline is Friday September 28.

All finishers will receive a memento and there are incentives on offer for those raising sponsorship money for Action Heart.

All money raised will go to the charity’s cardiac rehabilitation centre at Russells Hall Hospital which helps those who have suffered a heart attack or heart disease or undergone heart surgery.

The main race costs £10 for registered running club members and £12 for non-club members The 2K fun run, which families can sign up for on the day, costs £3 per entry or £6 for a family of four.
