LITTER-busting staff from two Asda stores took time out of their day to help clean up the area.

The workers from the Merry Hill and Brierley Hill stores held a community clean-up in Brierley Hill after joining forces with Dudley Council, who provided the equipment.

The staff spent two hours picking up litter on September 10.

Meanwhile residents are being encouraged to help clear-up an estate in Lower Gornal area next week.

The community litter pick has been organised by the Ellowes Hall Tenants and Residents Association for Saturday October 6 from 9.30am until 1pm.

Volunteers should meet at Ellowes Hall School in Stickley Lane where they will be provided with bags, high visibility jackets, litter picks and gloves.

All children should also be accompanied by an adult.

Councillor Judy Foster , cabinet member for transportation and community safety, said: “I am pleased these events are taking place and it is good to see local businesses are getting involved with residents to tidy up their towns.

"We need local people to take pride in where they live and help us to create a cleaner and safer environment in which to live, work and play.”
