£1m adventure complex unveiled for Merry Hill

PLANS for a £1 million pound new adventure play complex featuring an indoor rope course, an indoor golf course and an outdoor ice rink have been unveiled for Merry Hill.

Paragon Entertainment Ltd, has submitted the proposals to Dudley Council’s planners to build the 20,000 sq ft attraction called Quest at the Westfield shopping centre, which if given the go-ahead will begin a phased opening on November 9.

The complex, which will be built near to the now closed Harry Ramsdens restaurant, will include a cafe and the golf course and will also feature one of Europe’s highest indoor rope courses at 14m high.

An outdoor area will host a varied programme of activities, which will kick off with an ice rink in the run-up to Christmas and will also include a market and festive entertainment.

Other uses for the area during the year could feature water zorbing, wind tunnel skydiving and surfing.

Mark Pyrah, CEO of Paragon Entertainment, said: "We are delighted to have not only secured our first site but to have been able to agree a site large enough to support a number of unique attractions, creating a comprehensive leisure destination.

“We are also very excited to open our first proprietary attractions within a Westfield site and we look forward to developing this relationship over the coming years."

Kelly Reed, Westfield Merry Hill’s marketing manager, said: “We’re really excited to be unveiling the new Quest attractions here at Westfield Merry Hill. It’s a major investment and features a host of new and exciting activities for people of all ages to enjoy.”
