Residents call for estate drains to be unblocked
3:31pm Thursday 11th October 2012 in Local
BLOCKED drains in Old Park Farm have left residents with overflowing water running into their homes.
The tenants and residents association put together a letter, which was read out by ward councillor Adam Aston at North Dudley Area Committee, claiming their estate had been “neglected” by Dudley Council’s street cleaning team.
The letter, which was prompted following numerous complaints on the issue at the TRA’s recent AGM meeting, also stated how lots of residents have had rain water enter their homes from the blocked drains.
Cllr Aston, said: “I think this is quite an important issue. Only a few weeks ago the Fire Authority wrote to all the councils in the area urging them to make sure the drains were unblocked, especially with the all the flash flooding we have been having recently, which has caused obvious issues to the fire service.
Council officers said the matter would be referred to Matt Williams, Dudley Council’s Assistant Director of the Urban Environment.
