A motorcyclist was seriously injured following an incident in Stourbridge yesterday (Friday).
West Midlands Ambulance Service was called to the junction of Croftwood Lane and Grange Lane in Lye shortly before 6.20pm.
An ambulance and two rapid response vehicles; one carrying a senior paramedic officer and a nurse were sent to the scene. A third rapid response vehicle from the Midlands Air Ambulance base in Cosford, carrying a doctor and a critical care paramedic was also dispatched to the scene. An off duty paramedic and an off duty consultant from the local hospital also stopped to assist.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “On arrival at the scene crews found a car and a moped that had been in collision.
“The motorcyclist, a man, was treated at the scene for serious multiple injuries to his head, pelvis and both upper and lower limbs. Due to the nature of the injuries the casualty was given and anaesthetic at the scene before being fully immobilised and conveyed to the major trauma centre and Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham.
“The hospital was pre-alerted to the arrival of the man and of his injuries. The doctor and nurse travelled on board the ambulance with the crew continuing to provide emergency medic treatment whilst en route.
