A 26-YEAR-OLD Brierley Hill cannabis dealer rumbled when his BMW car was stopped by police because it had a faulty light has avoided spending time behind bars.

Omari Longmore then tried to escape from the officers on foot but he was quickly found hiding underneath another vehicle - Edward Soulsby, prosecuting, told Wolverhampton Crown Court.

He said Longmore was then found to be in possession of £226 in cash together with cannabis street deals valued at £60 following his arrest in the Wednesbury area.

A further £3,000 was recovered from the centre console of the car and another £10,000 was found at a house he used in the area, the court was told.

Longmore, of Waterfront Way, admitted being concerned in the supply of cannabis, possession of cannabis with intent to supply and possession of money from a criminal source.

Judge James Burbidge QC gave him a ten-month jail term suspended for two years and ordered him to carry out 100 hours unpaid work in the community.

Michael Anning, defending Longmore - who was also told to pay £340 costs, maintained he had played a lesser role in the cannabis dealing operation.
