A BRIERLEY Hill man will be lacing up his running shoes while arranging for models to strut their stuff on the catwalk - all in the name of charity.

Andrew Tansley, 28, is running the London Marathon in April and to take part has pledged to raise £2,000 for Children with Cancer UK.

“I have always wanted to do the London Marathon as it was on my bucket list,” he said.

“After applying a few times through the ballot and failing, I thought I would try to apply to do it for charity.

“I looked through the charities and came across Children with Cancer UK.

“After reading through what they have done and how they support children suffering with cancer and their families, I did feel it was a brilliant charity to get behind and raise money to help them carry on their work.”

To help him reach his fundraising target, Andrew enlisted the help of his mum, Jayne, to organise a charity fashion show at Stourbridge Football Club.

Jayne approached Stourbridge-based ladies clothes store Wardrobe One, which agreed to take part in the show and has also been able to get other local shops involved.

The show, which will be selling items from the various clothing shops involved, takes place on Monday, February 9, starting at 7pm.

Once the fashion show is over, Andrew will be back to his training to get himself prepared for the gruelling 26 mile slog around the streets of the capital.

He added: “I haven't done a marathon before, but I have done other events such as Tough Guy and Commando Challenge.

“I started my training back in October and it seems to be going well and will hopefully prepare me for the marathon. I am really excited to take part in the great event.”
