BRIERLEY Hill in Bloom is back again this summer bidding to become bigger and better.

Organisers already have ambitious plans to extend this year's floral display to beyond the High Street and into Venture Way.

Brierley Hill Civic Society will be taking charge of the project with the help of town traders and students from Birmingham Metropolitan College's art and design campus.

And the project has already been handed a huge boost with both national community funding plus sponsorship support from traders who kick-started last year's display in the High Street.

Organisers are also hoping to get local schools involved in a bid the increase the amount of blooms on display even further.

Brierley Hill councillor Rachel Harris said: "Many people didn't realise that last year's Brierley Hill in Bloom was community led, although we did get some assistance from the council. It was started by traders who care about the High Street and want to make it more pleasant.

"We've already secured base funds for this year's event which will help us obtain more equipment and planters. Now we're looking for people to come forward and sponsor them. "Everyone that does will have a plaque on their planter so people will know who has been involved.

"Last year's Brierley Hill in Bloom went down really well. We had no problems with vandalism and people appreciated it with some wonderful feedback."
