MERRY Hill has raised a whopping £24,437 over the past year for the Help Harry Help Others charity.

The intu shopping centre has held various fundraising events including a two-day HarryFest which invited families to enjoy a weekend of activities to support the charity set up in honour of kind-hearted schoolboy Harry Moseley.

The youngster from Birmingham dedicated himself to raising money to help others before he passed away from a brain tumour in October 2011.

Harry’s mum, Georgie Moseley, was presented with a cheque from Merry Hill on Tuesday February 17 at the seventh birthday celebration of the shopping centre’s Mummy Mornings networking event which itself has raised more than £2,000 for Help Harry Help Others.

Georgie said: “Myself and team Harry are truly overwhelmed by the commitment of all management, staff and shoppers at intu Merry Hill.

“We are a tiny community charity built through personal heartache through cancer. We can only give the amount of support we do to cancer families throughout the Midlands thanks to amazing people like this that believe in Harry's work. The money raised is staggering and will help at least 60 families over the coming months.”

Rob Pickersgill, Merry Hill marketing manager, said: “Help Harry Help Others is a fantastic charity, which many people across the West Midlands feel a strong connection with.

“The charity holds a special place in the hearts of many of our parents at Mummy Mornings, and they were honoured to host the cheque handover at their seventh birthday event.

“We are so proud that as a centre we managed to raise over £24,000 for such a wonderful cause.”
