PLACES are filling up fast for the annual older people’s conference at Brierley Hill Civic Hall next week.

Chief officers at Dudley Council want to see the last few places at the conference filled so they can hear from as many of the borough’s older people as possible.

The conference, taking place on Thursday (October 1) between 9.30am and 3.30pm, offers an opportunity for older people in the borough to find out what services are currently available.

Attendees can also take part in discussion groups to help plan future services, and also see a special report on the Age Alliance’s survey of older people’s experiences of loneliness.

Councillor Dave Branwood, cabinet member for adult social care, said: “This is a great opportunity for individuals or organisations working with older people in the borough to find out what services are currently available and to take part in discussion groups to help plan future services.”

Refreshments – including a buffet lunch – will be provided, while travel costs will be reimbursed for any older person attending.
