BLACK Country performers "hopelessly devoted" to the stage have been spreading the word about their forthcoming production of Grease.

The Tab Operatic Society will be bringing to life the much-loved musical about the teenagers of 1950s American high school Rydell High at Brierley Hill Civic Hall from March 15 to 19.

Husband and wife stage stars Leon and Rachel Davies, who started their amateur acting careers with the Tab as youngsters 30 years ago, are producing the show which features popular songs Summer Nights, Grease is the Word, Greased Lightnin' and Hopelessly Devoted To You.

Rachel’s late parents Alan and Judith Horton were leading actors with the Tab for many years and Alan was a founder member of the society and also its producer many years ago.

Leon said: “We feel very proud to have returned to our roots after performing with other companies in the West Midlands, and are thoroughly enjoying working together on this production.”

Production secretary Diane Bate said the society, which has been going since 1947, has undergone a “complete revamp” this year and also includes new lighting and sound crew.

Evening performances of Grease start at 7.15pm and there's a matinee show on Saturday starting at 2pm.
