TRAGIC Brierley Hill teen James Lowe will be honoured at a fundraising event in his memory.

James, a former pupil at Redhill School in Stourbridge, died on August 28, 2011, aged just 15, after he collapsed on a beach during a family holiday in Devon.

The popular prefect had a rare genetic condition which affected the development of his bones and blood vessels but despite his illness, his sudden death rocked his family and friends.

Five years on from James’ death, his friends Ellie Shilvock and Remie Marsh are organising the memorial event to raise funds for two charities – Birmingham Children’s Hospital and RNLI – which helped James and his family in his time of need.

Ellie said: “James was such an inspiration to all who knew him, he never gave up trying to do anything. He would brighten up any day, was always there when you needed him and certainly someone to rely on.

“He was such an incredible person, never letting his disability getting in the way of him.

“We are remembering James as he gave so much to us as friends and he deserves receiving it back in his memory. Everyone loved James for who he was.”

The event will be held on Saturday August 27 at Lye Town Football Club, in Stourbridge Road, between 1pm and 4pn.

There will be many stalls for people to donate their money towards the causes as well as win some prizes, including a raffle, tombola, name the teddy, bric-a-brac, nail painting, cake stalls and lucky dip.
