ED’S fans can rest easy after it was confirmed the Merry Hill branch of the American-style diner chain is to remain open.
The Ed’s Easy Diner restaurant, based on the lower mall opposite Marks and Spencer at intu Merry Hill, is among 33 restaurants in the Ed’s Easy Diner brand acquired by Giraffe Concepts after the chain went into administration.
The deal has reportedly secured around 700 jobs across the country – but 26 diners have been closed with immediate effect, resulting in 379 redundancies.
Rob Croxen, partner at administrators KPMG, said: “While we are pleased the transaction preserves around 700 jobs, our immediate priority in the coming days will be to liaise with those employees who have been affected by redundancy and ensure that in addition to receiving all back pay owed, they are provided with any assistance they need."
