BUDDING occupational therapists can find out more about the career and ways to access the service in Dudley are being invited to attend a special event this week.

The event, which is encouraging people to consider a career in occupational therapy, is being promoted by the College of Occupational Therapy.

Staff from the Dudley Council-run service will be at the Brierley Hill Health and Social Care Centre from today (Monday, November 7) to Wednesday (November 9) and again on Friday (November 11).

There will be information stands and leaflets about occupational therapy as a career and people can chat to qualified occupational therapists to find out about their experiences.

For people interested in finding out more about the service itself, there will be drop-in days showing people of the different services available locally.

These include information about the Blue Badge disability parking scheme on Monday and LIT Therapy on Tuesday, which is about enabling people to live independently at home and making use of assistance aids and rehabilitation at home.

Access and Prevention will take place on Wednesday, which ranges from support such as the provision of mobility, toileting, seating and bed aids through to home adaptations, conversions and installation of assistive technology equipment.

And on Friday there will be advice from the occupational therapy housing team who support people who require adapted or adaptable council properties. Housing OTs also liaise closely with Access and Prevention Team when housing adaptations have been recommended.
