COMEDY ventriloquist Paul Zerdin – winner of America's Got Talent – is to appear alongside Black Country favourite Doreen Tipton in Brierley Hill this summer.

The pair will take centre stage in the latest instalment of the popular ‘Live At The Civic’ stand-up series at the town’s civic hall on Saturday, June 24.

They will be supported on the triple headline bill by The Noise Next Door, widely regarded as the best comedy improv troupe in the country.

Tickets went on sale for the show yesterday (Friday, January 6) and will be available for just £10 until the end of the month as part of a special introductory offer.

Live At The Civic promoter and Dudley comedian Wayne Beese, who also runs the monthly Fitz of Laughter Comedy Club in Stourbridge, promises a great show.

Wayne said: “As well as America’s Got Talent, Paul Zerdin and his popular puppets have appeared on the Royal Variety Show, had their own residency in Las Vegas and been on numerous other TV shows. We are delighted to be able to bring him to the Black Country.

"Doreen is obviously a national treasure in these parts and I’m sure, rightly so, she will be a big draw, and The Noise are a fantastic act. People may not have heard of them – but they will certainly be talking about them afterwards.

“The support we have had from people buying tickets so far has been phenomenal and we hope it continues.

"Our sales model is simple – the sooner you buy, the cheaper you get your ticket for and the better seat you get.

“We would urge people to take advantage to get a bargain price for a top, top show.”

Wayne has put the show on sale a month earlier than planned due to the popularity of the second gig of the series, taking place on Saturday February 18, which features TV comics Joe Lycett and Mark Watson and the Black Country’s own Jonny Cole.

After being able to sell out the 695-seat venue, added to the fact that the first show in the series in July last year, featuring Doc Brown, Paul Tonkinson and The Fizzogs, drawing a crowd of more than 500, Wayne said he hopes June would prove equally popular.

The comedy series is also bringing Knightmare Live, a stage version of the cult 1980s and 1990s children's TV show, to the Brierley Hill venue on Saturday, April 15.
